A Swedish delegation, led by Ebba Busch, Minister for Energy, Business, and Industry, embarked on a two-day visit to Italy, focused on strengthening EU innovation and competitiveness. On Monday, March 24, Business Sweden hosted a high-level conference with the Embassy of Sweden in Italy on EU innovation and competitiveness. Key speakers included Ebba Busch, Adolfo Urso, and Jan Björklund, who discussed Sweden and Italy's roles in driving innovation and economic growth. Paolo Borzatta 博吾乐 of The European House-Ambrosetti highlighted four strategic EU challenges: environment, geopolitics, technology, and health, emphasising the need for deeper integration. The conference featured three panels: - Resilient energy infrastructure: Louise Gauffin, Igor Malgieri, Robert Denda, John Hunter, Riccardo Dutto, Leonardo D'Acquisto - Industry decarbonisation: Renata Vachova, Marco Piredda, Barbara Gervasoni, Erik Olsson, Enrico Mayrhofer - Innovation & Collaboration: Nicola Corradi, Carl Bennet AB, Pierpaolo Gambini, Roberto Mastri Afternoon break-out rooms focused on energy, grids, healthcare, foodtech, fintech, and sustainable manufacturing, discussing technology neutrality, government incentives, stakeholder collaboration, and investment needs. On Tuesday, March 25, the delegation visited Enel Group and Leonardo to explore potential Italy-Sweden collaborations. The time to act for Europe's future competitiveness is now! The strong and close relationship between Sweden and Italy, together with the countries' successful industries, is a solid foundation to foster innovation and collaboration. Yesterday marked the opening of the Italy-Sweden Business Forum led by Minister for Energy, Business and Industry and Deputy Prime Minister Ebba Busch. The Delegation was invited to a Welcome aperitivo at the residence of H.E. Jan Björklund, Ambassador of Sweden to Italy. Business Sweden has now opened its doors in Mumbai and welcomes you to our newest office in India! Sweden's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Maria Malmer Stenergard handed over the symbolic key to CEO of Business Sweden Jan Larsson and Trade & Invest Commissioner to India, Sofia Högman in the presence of Ambassador to India, H.E. Jan Thesleff and, Consul General Sven Östberg earlier this week during her visit to India. India is one of the world's largest and fastest growing economies, with great potential for increased Swedish exports and for investments from India to Sweden. Trade relations between the two countries date back to over 100 years with Ericsson being the first Swedish company to start its operations in India. Western India figures as an important international trade center and particularly so for Swedish businesses who have for long had a solid presence especially in Pune when the city witnessed its first mark of the Swedish footprint as far back as the 1960s. And on to a later entrant, Spotify has for a few years been spreading musical waves and cheer across the country through its headquarters in Mumbai. Our Mumbai office establishment will focus on enhanced trade and investment cooperation and capture the potential in Western India as a growth market for Swedish companies and Indian investments into Sweden.
