The government's initiative #FocusAsia highlights Asia's crucial role in global growth and sustainable development for Swedish companies. The region is an economic engine and a place where Swedish innovations can make a real difference. Recently, Business Sweden concluded a lecture tour through 11 cities in Sweden, where we shared concrete tips on how Swedish companies can best tap into the enormous potential that Asia offers. Here are our top tips: • Get involved wholeheartedly – Asia is not a place to just "dip your toes" in. It requires full focus and a long-term strategy. • Understand the cultural codes – The cultural gap between Sweden and Asia is large, and listening and adapting is crucial for success. • Choose your market carefully – Asia accounts for 40% of the world economy today and is expected to contribute to 60% of global GDP growth next year. But every country is unique, so choosing the right market is crucial. Team Sweden’s mission to South Korea and Japan has strengthened partnerships and advanced collaboration in innovation, sustainability, and industrial cooperation. The delegation included site visits, networking opportunities, roundtable discussions and the signing of several MOUs. In South Korea, we experienced exceptional warmth and hospitality. As Jan Larsson, Business Sweden CEO, noted: “Despite challenging times, South Korea welcomed us with open arms, reaffirming our commitment as steadfast, long-term partners.” In Japan, the visit was a key step toward Expo 2025 Osaka. “Japan will host the World Expo 2025, and South Korea is a key partner on energy and industrial cooperation. We look forward to seeing both nations at the Join Sweden Summit in Stockholm next year,” Larsson added.

A new report from Business Sweden shows that Swedish export companies remain highly competitive on the world market – despite falling global demand. Sweden’s share of the global export market for goods amounted to 1.0 per cent 2023. “Sweden went against the tide of declining global exports and captured market shares,” explains Lena Sellgren, Chief Economist at Business Sweden. Our CEO Jan Larsson was interviewed in Tidningen Näringslivet about Expo 2025 Osaka in Japan next year. "There are a number of opportunities for Swedish companies to get involved in the expo for shorter or longer periods.
