9.30 - 10.30 Accelerating the energy transition in developing economies
This session will focus on how we can support the expansion of renewable energy in developing economies, while at the same time accelerating the transformation away from fossil fuels. Should the energy transition be viewed as an economic opportunity – driving trade, economic growth and creating jobs?
Speakers:
Moderator: Marie Trogstam, Chief Sustainability Officer at AFRY
Location: Swedish Pavilion
13.30 - 15.00 Energy transitions for 1.5°C – scaled and enabled by energy efficiency, innovation and digitalisation
Most of the reductions in CO2 emissions through 2030 can come from technologies already on the market today. But in 2050, almost half the reductions must come from technologies that are currently under development. This session will focus on what actions are needed to support the industry with clean energy innovation.
Speakers:
Moderator: Nick Nuttall, We Don’t Have Time
Location: Swedish Pavilion
15.30 - 16.30 The Climate Benefits of Exports
Green transition is possible, and it is happening. Sustainable solutions from Sweden are enablers in this process, making Swedish exports an impactful factor for the global green transition. The purpose of this session is to share and showcase the Swedish experience of successful export promotion of sustainable solutions and how Swedish exports contribute to the green transition globally.
Speakers:
Moderator: Gustaf Bergström, Trade & Invest Commissioner of Sweden to the United Kingdom at Business Sweden
Location: Swedish Pavilion
17.15 - 18.00 Accelerating the global energy transition – turning vision into action
The panel session will discuss both the blockers and enablers to delivering the energy transition at pace. As you are aware, the transition requires momentous growth in renewables generation (notably solar and offshore wind), substantial investment in electricity networks (for expansion, flexibility and robustness), electrification of demand (most notably in transport and heating) and unparalleled global collaboration between governments and industry. The challenges are significant, with the need to create alignment across a complex eco-system, but the resultant benefits are vital economically as well as for the climate. The panel will bring together leaders from industry, government, and international agencies to discuss the priority areas for action.
Speakers:
Moderator: Arunabha Ghosh, CEO, CEEW (Council on Energy, Environment & Water)

08.45 - 09.30 The unsung hero on the path to decarbonization and the energy efficiency movement
To speed up the transition towards a decarbonized future we need to have multiple solutions along the road. One of them is energy efficiency where there is a huge untapped potential to reduce carbon dioxide emission already today.
To accelerate the speed for action companies are now joining under the energy efficiency movement.

09.00 - 09.45 Driving sustainable transition from a youth perspective
This event will feature the marginalised generation – many of whom had said they have been ignored by world leaders – and focus on dialogue where the younger generation challenge their business leaders. The youth perspective on sustainability and in particular climate is crucial. We know that the young generation and generations to come will face challenging times – they will be responsible for saving a world in crisis; a crisis which they have inherited from previous generations.
Speakers:

Location: Swedish Pavilion
13.15 - 14.00 Accelerating exponential climate action among businesses to halve emissions by 2030
We need to cut emissions by half by 2030, and this requires exponential scaling of climate solutions to shift out the fossil-based. The UN Race to Zero, Exponential Roadmap Initiative and the SME Climate Hub have established sharp requirements to halve emissions every decade. Ericsson and the Exponential Roadmap Initiative invite you to this session to showcase the strategies and actions taken by some world-leading companies, showing that sharp climate action is possible and creates a competitive advantage—and discuss actions beyond their own business to reach the tipping point required.
Speakers:
Moderator: Catarina Rolfsdotter Jansson, We Don’t Have Time
Location: Swedish Pavilion
14.15 - 15.00 Enabling Exponential Climate Policy
Science makes it clear that policies need to enable and support businesses to align with the carbon law. The report Governing our Climate Future launched by the Global Challenges Foundation together with the Exponential Roadmap Initiative focuses on the policies and governance solutions needed to achieve this, building on the Exponential Roadmap: scaling 36 solutions to halve emissions by 2030. The policies should be purposeful and exponentially scalable.
This event will inspire and educate policymakers, business leaders and civil society in the policies and governance solutions needed to halve global emissions by 2030 and scale the 36 solutions identified.

17.00 - 18.00 How partnerships across the value chain enable circular solutions
Almost 50% of the CO2 we use are embedded in the products and the infrastructure or the food we are consuming. To have a possibility to reach the ambitions set in the Paris agreement we will need to create circular material flows. In our current linear system, we work in silos. This will not be the case in a future circular economy where the ability to collaborate will be a key component. In this session the focus will be on the importance of partnerships in creating circular material flows.
