Targeted acquisition leads to technology enabled expansion
When our client, a multinational market-leading manufacturer of solutions for a long term sustainable industrial sector, wanted to expand within a new technology market, Business Sweden with its vast European industrial network was the natural partner for an acquisition target search.
With over 25 manufacturing sites and 4,000+ employees world-wide, the company already had a strong market position but was now ready to explore new technologies that were beyond their expertise but that are needed for the future business portfolio.
The gap in experience in the technology sector was preventing them from finding the most attractive acquisition targets in the new segment.
A search for the right acquisition targets needed to be done across Europe.
A comprehensive market analysis included identification, screening and evaluation of 90 interesting companies across 10 countries in Europe.
The goal was to understand developments and which segments and companies to focus on, as well as the type of technologies and their potential use within the company’s own sector.
The in-depth analysis identified seven highly interesting companies and eight companies of medium interest. The next step was analysis, evaluation and profiling of the preferred companies with recommendation for the board of the Company pursue approaches and acquisition discussions.
While the negotiations are ongoing, the company is in a strong, well-informed position to make solid investment decisions about their future portfolio.
